Suspects charged with mass drive by shooting on New Year’s Eve in Adams County

Multiple individuals now have been charged in a mass shooting incident that happened during a New Year’s Eve celebration on Finger Lane in Adams County.

The shooting killed one person who had been identified as 24-year-old Kejuan King, and injured another five people, Adams County Sheriff Travis Patten said.

Patten said three individuals in a vehicle drove up on a group of individuals standing in a yard on Finger Lane in Adams County and opened fire. Deputies responded to the call and worked around the clock following leads and interviewing witnesses, he said.

The Adams County Sheriff’s Office investigation led them to Vicksburg and ultimately to arrest Jeremiyah Clark, Darryl Hurts Jr., and Aaeria Hearron in a hotel room at the Rodeway Inn for unrelated charges on the evening of Jan. 1, 2025.

As the investigation continued, the Adams County Sheriff’s Office and Zachary Police Department executed a search warrant in Zachary, Louisiana on Jan. 8, at the home of Richie Jackson. Jackson was arrested for Narcotics Violations by the Zachary Police Department. Later that day, The Adams County Sheriff’s Office executed another search warrant with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office at a residence in Fayette.

Today, Patten said, Clark, 23, from Natchez, is being charged with murder, five counts of attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and possession of a stolen vehicle. Clark is currently in custody for two other murders in the City of Natchez.

Hurts Jr., 26, from Natchez is being charged with murder, five counts of attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Hurts is currently incarcerated for a probation violation, accessory after the fact, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon for an unrelated incident.

Jackson, 24, from Fayette, is being charged with murder, five counts of attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, possession of a stolen vehicle, and accessory after the fact. Jackson is currently incarcerated for a bond revocation for an aggravated assault charge and has been out on bond for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute in Zachary.

Hearron, 28, from Fayette, is being charged with accessory after the fact and is currently in custody for accessory after the fact and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon for an unrelated incident.

Additionally, Shatarvia Johnson, 25, from Vicksburg, is being charged with accessory before the fact.

Patten said that his agency has continued to work to follow every lead and has executed over 20 search warrants, issued numerous subpoenas, and is still receiving and analyzing all of the data that has come in. He also thanked the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office, Louisiana Department of Probation and Parole, Mississippi Department of Probation and Parole, Vidalia Police Department, Natchez Police Department, Fayette Police Department, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Vicksburg Police Department, Zachary Police Department, Clinton Police Department, New Orleans Police Department, and the Adams County District Attorney’s Office which has all worked collaboratively with ACSO on this case.

He added that this investigation is still ongoing and that more arrests are expected to be made soon. Patten also said that these individuals are a threat to not just the Natchez-Adams County community but every community from Clayton and Zachary, Louisiana to Vicksburg.

“It was very important to get them off the street as soon as possible,” he said.
