BATESVILLE, MS – Honoring her wishes, graveside services for Elinor Gayle Gabbert Ferrell who died on Jan. 28, 2025, will be held at a later date at the Magnolia Cemetery in Batesville, MS in the Gabbert family plot.

She was born in Batesville, MS on April 27, 1929, to Truman Rupert Gabbert and Anita Mozelle Johnston Gabbert.

Gayle began her banking career in 1947 and continued it when she moved to Natchez in 1962, working at City Bank and Trust Company. After retiring from banking, she was employed by the Pilgrimage Garden Club as the manager of Stanton Hall, where she shared her love of Natchez with many tourists and locals alike.

She was a long-time First Baptist Church Natchez member and a devout Christian.

Gayle was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Hill Ferrell Jr., and an infant sister, Emily Ruth Gabbert.

She is survived by her beloved daughter, Louan Ferrell Pevey, and husband, Mike; grandchildren, Ashley Claire Kingsafer Willis and husband Drew of Breman, GA; John Ferrell Kingsafer and wife Amy; Janee’ Pevey McKinney and husband Richard of Natchez; and Jarrett Shea Pevey and wife Patricia Janell of Brookhaven. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren: Lynlee Claire and Molly Catherine Kingsafer, Davis Cobb and Clyde Owen Willis, and Jacob Rance and Matthew Reese McKinney.

Other survivors are her brother, Rupert Glynn Gabbert and wife, Harriett of Water Valley, MS; nephews, Bill Gabbert and wife, Christy and John Gabbert and wife, Amy as well as five great-nephews.
