MONTEREY – Funeral services for Nina Maxine Lipsey Strebeck, 89, of Monterey, LA will be held at New Era Baptist Church on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2025, at noon with Bro. Dustin Davis officiating. Interment will follow at New Era Baptist Church Cemetery, under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the church from 10 a.m. until the service time at noon.
Maxine was born on Saturday, July 13, 1935, in Ferriday, and passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2025, in Centerville, MS. Maxine was a lifelong member of New Era Baptist Church, where her unwavering dedication to the Lord shone brightly. Serving as the church pianist for over 62 years, she touched countless hearts through her music. Alongside her brother, Aubrey, and sister, Melba, Maxine traveled to various churches, joyfully spreading the gospel and uplifting spirits through song and praise. Her culinary talents were equally cherished, especially her famous coconut pies that became a family favorite. Above all, Maxine adored her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, creating lasting memories filled with love and care. She will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate to know her.
She is reunited with her husband, Karl Strebeck; son, Vince Strebeck; parents, Tillman Vanner Lipsey and Nina Hazel Boles Lipsey; brothers, Burlon “Joe” Lipsey, James Lipsey, Ivy Lipsey, Houma Lipsey, and Aubrey Lipsey; and sisters, Thelma Tarver and Floy Delhoste.
Those left to cherish Maxine’s memories are her daughter, Rhonda Huff, and her husband, Chuck of Woodville; son, Van Strebeck and his wife, Kim of Monterey, LA; grandchildren, Nathan Huff and his wife, Kathleen, Nicole Huff, Lindsey Brallier and her husband, Ben, Layton Strebeck and his wife, Crystal, Tate Strebeck and his wife, Karley, Chase Strebeck and his wife, Tiffany, and Laken Strebeck; sisters, Melba Lipsey Thompson and Valda Lipsey Greene; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Those honoring Maxine as pallbearers are Nathan Huff, Chase Strebeck, Layton Strebeck, Tate Strebeck, Rory Dale, and Christopher Dale.
Honorary pallbearers will be her great-grandchildren: Jase Strebeck, Tye Strebeck, Thomas Brallier, Caleb Brallier, Sawyer Wicker, Brody Paul, Rylan Paul, and Stan Huff.
