NATCHEZ – Funeral services for Larry Carl Johansson Jr. “Joey,” 52, of Natchez, who went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2025, at his home in Natchez, will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2025, at Marshall Funeral Home in Natchez, at 2 p.m. with Bro. Kelly Elveston officiating under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery.
Joey was born in Natchez on June 17, 1972, to Debbie Montgomery Farmer and Larry Johansson. He graduated from Natchez High School in 1992 and worked at Hope Farms on a restoration project in Natchez. Joey had a passion for construction and took pride in making improvements on numerous projects throughout his career.
Joey was an amazing father to his two children, Chloe and Channing, and loved being an active dad. He enjoyed riding bikes with his son, spending time with his daughter and family, and creating lasting memories with those he loved.
Joey was known for his love of the outdoors and his playful spirit. He often sang, danced, and found joy in the simple things. Joey was athletic in many ways. During high school, he excelled in track and field, holding records in the high jump—a testament to his dedication and talent.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents: William C. “Gray” and Marie Montgomery; Pat and Ed Johansson; and aunt, Patsy “Tricia” Knotts.
Joey is survived by his two children, Chloe Johansson of Natchez, and Channing Johansson of Monterey, LA, as well as their mother, Gina Stampley Johansson of Monterey, LA, and his longtime girlfriend, Shelli Braud of Thibodeaux, LA. He is also survived by his mother and stepfather, Debbie and Bubba Farmer of Natchez, and his father and stepmother, Larry and Mary Beth Johansson of Whitehall, AR; his siblings include Kimberly (Rusty) Passini of Cabot, AR; Eric (Natalie) Johansson of Sherwood, AR; Stacy and (Trey) of Petal, MS, and Leigh and (Donnie) McIIwain of Natchez. Joey will be dearly missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Eric Johansson, Rusty Passini, John Langley, Nathaniel Wheeler, Braxton Harveston, Allen Maples, Cookie Wilson and Eddie Tarver.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Natchez Adams County Humane Society.
Joey’s memory will forever be cherished by his family and friends, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
