June 16, 1946 – Jan. 18, 2025

NATCHEZ – Edward Robert Bernhard peacefully went to meet his bride in heaven on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2025.

He was born June 16, 1946, to Henry and Stella (LeBlanc) Bernhard in Bay St Louis, MS.

He attended Catholic High School in Baton Rouge, enlisted in the United States Army, and went on to serve in the Vietnam War. He spent most of his life working in plumbing and loved creating, building, and repairing anything he could.

EB is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Stella; his brother-in-law, Emmett Irwin, and loving wife of 30 years, Sherry (Ferrell) Bernhard.

He is survived by his best friend and stepdaughter, Candi (Ogden) Ferachi, and her husband, Paul; stepson, Tobi Ogden; daughter, Sandi Rumfola, and her husband, Mark; daughter, Jodi (Bernhard) Tickle, and her husband, Ben; sister, Dodie (Bernhard) Irwin; sister, Mary Kay (Bernhard) Whitehead, and her husband, Al.

Pap is also survived by his grandchildren and biggest fans, Christopher Ferachi, Cameron Ferachi, and his wife, Rainey (Saune), Kennedy Ferachi, Keegan Ferachi, and his wife, Baylee (Daigle), Carter Ferachi, Camille Ferachi, Jakob Ogden, Juliana Ogden, Ethan Ogden, Kyle Bourque, Oscar Tickle and Stella Tickle.

He will be terribly missed by his faithful cat, Belle, and his grand-pets Tango, Roxy, Indy, Ruby, and Lamar.

EB was an incredibly sweet soul with a huge heart. He was an amazing, dedicated caregiver to the love of his life for the last 10 years.

Although his family is selfishly sad, that he is no longer with us, we are incredibly glad that he is at peace and reunited with his “baby” Sherry.

We know they are happily holding hands, sitting on a pier, sharing a cocktail, and catching fish in heaven.

He will be buried at a private gathering at Natchez Cemetery next to Sherry.

He will be remembered at a Celebration of Life at Greenoaks Celebration of Life Reception Center, 9595 Florida Boulevard, Baton Rouge, LA 70815 on Sunday, Jan. 26, 2025, from 4 until 6 p.m.
