NATCHEZ – Funeral services for Carolyn Jean Burchfield, 69, of Natchez, who died on Jan. 18, 2025, will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 23, 2025, at Parkway Baptist Church with Rev. Rajesh Behara and Rev. Steve Purvis officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held at noon on Thursday, until service time at the church.

Mrs. Burchfield was born on May 6, 1955, in Natchez, the daughter of John Edward Lambert, Sr. and Montie Sue Knox Lambert. She was a persevering servant of the Lord Jesus Christ, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Mrs. Burchfield was a longtime member of Stanton Baptist Church, where she dedicated over 40 years of service as a secretary. She was a beloved and active member of Parkway Baptist Church. She was well-known and liked by way of her places of employment throughout the years, most notably Big Star in Washington, as a retired window clerk for the USPS, and as a skilled tax preparer. She was presently employed by RLP and Co. alongside her best friend, Becky Porter. Of all her roles, Mrs. Burchfield most treasured spending time with her favorite people – her grandchildren – while saturating them in the grace of the Savior. She was an inspiration to everyone who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, John Edward Lambert, Jr.; and two sisters, Sharron Pickering and Lorraine Henderson.

Survivors include her husband, Larry Wayne Burchfield, Sr.; son, Larry Wayne “Boo” Burchfield, Jr. and wife, Kristi; grandsons, Blair Burchfield and fiancé, Makayla Matthews; and Braden Burchfield; granddaughter, Brielle Burchfield, all of Vidalia; brother, James F. Lambert and wife, Pauline of Natchez; sister, Judy McReynolds of Baton Rouge; sister-in-law, Cynthia Hall, and husband, John of Natchez; many special nieces and nephews; and a great number of other relatives and friends which she loved dearly.

Pallbearers will be Allen Burchfield, Donnie Strittman, Chip Pickering, Blake Moore, Buddy Brown, Steve Lawson, Todd Smith, and John Hall.

Memorials may be made to Parkway Baptist Church or Muscular Dystrophy Association.
