Dewey “Red” was born on Saturday, Aug. 14, 1948, in Natchez, and passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2025, in Vidalia, surrounded by loved ones, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, craftsmanship, and devotion. A proud Vietnam Army veteran, Dewey served his country with honor and carried that same dedication into his everyday life. His loyalty and dedication carried him through over 30 years with International Paper where he retired and then began working for the Adams County Sheriff’s Office serving his community for several years. He had a passion for the outdoors, spending countless hours fishing, shooting guns, and tending to his yard, where he found joy in staying busy and productive.
Dewey’s hands were as skilled as his heart was full. A true craftsman, he transformed wood into beautiful creations that reflected his talent and patience. Much like his life, his work was marked by care and precision. Dewey will be remembered for his industrious spirit, love for nature, and the warmth he shared with everyone who knew him. He leaves behind a family who cherishes his memory and the many gifts he created with his hands and heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Travis Monroe and Margaret Estelle Bryant; four brothers, Shelby Eugene Bryant, Clyde Monroe Bryant, Clarence Allen Bryant, and Harvey Eugene Bryant; his niece, Jessie Mae Donaldson; and his cousin, Alvin “Pete” Flint.
