NATCHEZ — This Monday, Jan. 20, immediately following the Natchez Martin Luther King Jr. Day Parade, is the inaugural “I Have a Dream” Business Networking event.

The MLK Day parade starts at 3 p.m. Monday on Broadway Street followed by the networking event from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at The Warehouse, located at 500 Lasalle St.

This event is the first of its kind hosted by New Vision Broadcasting WTYJ and WMIS along with community partners for local businesses, community and church groups and organizations, said Malcolm Inniss, owner of the broadcasting company.

“This isn’t just a networking event,” Inniss said. “It’s a call to action. Inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s vision, this gathering is designed to spark economic vitality and collaboration in our community. It’s time for local businesses, churches, community groups, and organizations to come together and work together to achieve economic growth, support one another to build a stronger community, educate and empower each other and hold ourselves accountable to fulfill the dream Dr. King set in motion.”

Inniss said a few event highlights include a meet and greet with participating community organizations and businesses, the announcement of the float competition winners from the MLK parade, door prizes and a networking scavenger hunt for businesses who present their business cards for a chance to win, as well as light food and refreshments provided by Van Hawkins and Mr. Banks’ South Sizzle.

“This is an opportunity to meet new businesses, reconnect with existing ones, and pledge to grow Natchez and the Miss-Lou together,” Inniss said. “Dr. King’s dream was rooted in the belief that economic empowerment is the key to crossing the mountain of inequality and creating lasting change. Let’s take that dream to the next level by committing to work together for a stronger, united future. Join us as we honor Dr. King’s vision and start the important work of building a thriving economic community.”

To RSVP, send an email to info@newvisionbroadcasting.com. Don’t forget to bring business cards to participate in special prize raffles, Innis said.
