NATCHEZ – Jonathan Miller, affectionately known as “Johnny Cakes,” or simply “Johnny,” was born on April 19, 1954, in Natchez, MS the oldest son of Margaret Ellis Miller Malone. He attended Holy Family High School and briefly served in the United States Armed Forces following high school. He relocated in 1980 and called Forth Worth, TX home for over 40 years, during which time he was employed by the DHL supply chain for 11 years.

Jonathan lived life unapologetically, and he loved fiercely. He was a proud father, a loving husband, a beloved brother, uncle, cousin, a doting grandfather, great-grandfather, and a cherished friend. He was the life of the party; always impeccably dressed, never afraid to speak his truth, and he could fill a room with his booming baritone voice and deep laugh.

God called Jonathan home on Christmas morning, and he joined his mother, Margaret Malone; sisters, Sylvia Anderson, Levera Malone, Gwenester Russell, and Shirley Jones; and his first wife, Carol Miller in Paradise.

He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Ophelia Miller of Fort Worth, TX; daughter, Melissa (James) Philpot of Hope Mills, NC; son, Earl Malone of Jackson, MS; step-sons, Severiano Perez and Larry Anthony (Devon) Perez; step-daughter, Casey (Rafael) Rodriguez; grandchildren, Ariana Dixon of San Marcos, TX, Ayashyre Gaspar and Gabby Coleman, both of Fayetteville, NC, Selena Perez, DeVonte Perez, Annalise Rodriguez, and Rafael Rodriguez; great-grandchildren, Karlee Dixon, and Kenai Gaspar; sister, Mary Parker of Ocean Springs, MS; brother, Earl (Ruthie) Malone of Fort Worth, TX; aunts, Irma (Willie) Mushatt of Matthews, NC and Carolyn (Tim) Smith of Natchez; nine brothers-in-law; five sisters-in-law; a legion of adoring nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2025, at Melrose Avenue Church of Christ located at 126 Melrose Ave., Natchez.
