NATCHEZ — Amy, a 2-year-old Great Pyrenees mix, has officially found her forever home.

HoofBeats and PawPrints Rescue announced that on Jan. 9, over 900 days since Amy’s rescue, her foster family Andrew and Taryn Tenbusch, decided they couldn’t part with her and made her an official member of their family.

“Amy’s journey to this happy ending is a heartwarming story of patience, love, and finding the paw-fect match,” said HPR.

Amy came to HPR as a puppy along with her two brothers. One of her siblings was transported to an adoption center up north while Amy and her other brother remained at the rescue. Amy spent over 900 days at the rescue, during which time her gentle personality, love for calm walks, couch snuggles, and romps in the play yard made her a favorite among volunteers. Though she was great with other dogs, cats, and even physical activities, her skittish nature and cautiousness with new people made finding the right home a challenge.

Andrew and Taryn, HoofBeats and PawPrints volunteers, began fostering Amy 7 months ago. While Amy had visits with potential adopters, none were the right fit. Over time, Amy’s quirks—her “project dog” personality—became endearing to her foster parents, and their bond grew stronger.

Now, as an official member of the family, Amy joins three feline siblings who adore her. This summer, she’ll pack her bags and head to Duluth, MN, where Taryn’s new Coast Guard assignment will take them. Amy is ready for her next adventure in the Great White North, where she’ll continue her happy life with the family who loves her.

Andrew and Taryn have consistently fostered multiple animals awaiting placement and will be honored as HPR’s Volunteers of the Year at the upcoming Mardi-Paws celebration on Feb. 23, which lasts from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on the Natchez Bluff.
