Update: Wind advisory for southwest Mississippi until early Monday

On Sunday at 3:34 a.m. the National Weather Service issued an updated wind advisory valid from noon until Monday midnight. The advisory is for Upper Lafourche, Upper Terrebonne, Lower Terrebonne, Lower Lafourche, Northern Tangipahoa, Southeast St. Tammany, Western Orleans, Eastern Orleans, Northern St. Tammany, Southwestern St. Tammany, Central Tangipahoa, Lower Tangipahoa, Northern Livingston, Southern Livingston, Western Ascension, Eastern Ascension, Upper Jefferson, Northern Hancock, Northern Harrison, Northern Jackson, Southern Hancock, Southern Harrison and Southern Jackson as well as Pointe Coupee, West Feliciana, East Feliciana, St. Helena, Washington, Iberville, West Baton Rouge, East Baton Rouge, Assumption, St. James, St. John The Baptist, St. Charles, Wilkinson, Amite, Pike, Walthall and Pearl River counties.
The NWS comments, “Southwest winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph expected.”
“Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result,” adds the NWS. “Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution. Secure outdoor objects.”
