NATCHEZ – Leona Uzzetta Adams passed away on Friday, Dec. 13, 2024, surrounded by her loving children, after a brief illness at the age of 82. Leona was born June 5, 1942, in New Orleans, LA.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Leona F. Uzzetta, and father, Cyrus R. Uzzetta, Sr.; brother, Cyrus R. Uzzetta, Jr.; husband, Robert J. Richards, and her ex-husband, Earl J. Adams (father of her daughters).
She is survived by her loving sister, Judith Uzzetta; her adoring three daughters, Wendy Adams-Lyons (Michael Ray), Stephanie Nielsen (Robert Claude), and Nona Colombo (Anthony Kirsch, Jr.); nephews: Mark and Dante Uzzetta, as well as other extended families.
She was a true New Orleanian, “Who Knew What It Means to Miss New Orleans.” She loved the culture, food, arts, and entertainment and loved the uptown Mardi Gras parades… She relocated after Hurricane Katrina to historic Natchez, MS also full of beauty and charm.
She was a retired interior decorator, as well as, a kitchen, bath, and closet designer and an accomplished seamstress. She made custom draperies, upholstery, wedding gowns, and Mardi Gras costumes, and had a meticulous eye for fabrics, trim, and interior design.
What she enjoyed most in life, was sharing time with her devoted family whom she instilled with her values of individualism, independence, and a love for all things gentle, kind, creative, and beautiful. She was a splendid cook. As well as a pure soul, filled with only genuine good and love.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at St. Mary’s Basilica, 105 South Union Street, Natchez, on Monday, Jan. 6, 2025, at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until Mass time.
