NATCHEZ — Nyomi, the daughter of Nyishia Randall and Davin Irving, arrived slightly later than expected, which made her the first baby to make her debut in 2025 at Merit Health Natchez.

Randall said both mom and the new baby are at home now and doing just fine. As for Nyomi being the first baby born in 2025, Randall said it was “kind of expected, but we thought she was going to come on the 31st” when she was induced.

Nyomi instead held on until 1:56 a.m., when she arrived weighing 7 pounds, 3 ounces and 19 1/2 inches long.

Nurses at Merit Health put together a gift basket of goodies for the new mom and baby to wish them a Happy New Year.

Randall says what she looks forward to most in 2025 is “watching her grow and hit her milestones.”

Nyomi is her first baby, she said.
