NATCHEZ — The investigation of the New Year’s Eve shooting incident on Finger Lane in Adams County led investigators to Warren County where three persons of interest have been taken into custody, Adams County Sheriff Travis Patten said Wednesday evening.
In the video above, authorities are at the scene of the Rodeway Inn in Vicksburg at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday taking the three individuals into custody.
At least two shooters are thought to be involved in a Tuesday shooting that took place at approximately 9:48 p.m. in the area of Finger Lane, located off of Lower Woodville Road, that killed Keyuan King, 24, of Natchez, and injured at least four other people.
“This was horrible,” Adams County Coroner James Lee had said of King’s death. “I could see the hurt and pain in his mother and father’s eyes as I stood quietly knowing there was very little I could do. These types of shootings can never be accepted as the norm. We have to change this path of murder somehow in Adams County 2025.”
Lee added that the victim’s body would be transported immediately to the State Crime Lab for autopsy.
Adams County Sheriff Travis Patten said King was one of five people who had been transported to the hospital. Three were taken by ambulance and two more by private vehicles to Merit Health Natchez. More people possibly hurt on the scene refused medical treatment, he said.
