On Aug. 9, 2024, the CPSO Cyber Crime Unit began investigating a case involving video voyeurism set up, where multiple juveniles were being filmed by a hidden camera inside the bathroom of a Vidalia residence. Detectives submitted search warrants to electronic service providers which authenticated the videos and confirmed the identity of a suspect. Upon being taken into custody, a search warrant was executed at Smith’s residence, at which time an electronic device was seized that contained videos of child sexual abuse material.

As detectives worked to process digital evidence, which can be time-consuming, Smith now also faces three counts of child molestation of a juvenile victim under 13 years of age and 54 counts of video voyeurism.

Smith was rebooked with the additional charges into the Concordia Parish Detention Center where he was already housed.
