NATCHEZ – Services for Bobby G. Hughey, 88, of Natchez who died on Friday, Dec. 26, 2024, in Natchez will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2024, at Immanuel Baptist Church with Rev. Dillon Wickliff officiating.

Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at Nunnery Cemetery in Amite County, MS under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held from 10 until 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2024, at Immanuel Baptist Church.

Mr. Hughey was born on Jan. 11, 1936, in Liberty MS, the son of Fred Hughey and Elma Carraway Hughey.

Bobby married Shirley Freeman on July 4, 1959. He worked in the engineering department of the Mississippi Department of Transportation until his retirement. He was a faithful member of Immanuel Baptist Church.

Mr. Hughey was preceded in death by his parents; son, David Hughey; daughter-in-law, Marrisa Hughey; grandson, Daniel Hughey; two sisters, Linda Hughey Kavanaugh and Margaret Hughey (Judy) Sewell; and a brother and sister who died in youth, Jerry and Pansy Hughey.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Freeman Hughey; grandson, Matthew Hughey and wife, Amanda Hughey of Liberty, MS; granddaughter, Katelyn Wallace and husband, Austin Wallace of Liberty, MS; great-grandson, Dakota Wallace of Liberty, MS; great-granddaughter, Kinzie Hughey of Liberty, MS; one brother, James Lester Hughey and wife, Judy Hughey of Smithdale, MS; two sisters, Dorothy Hughey Pigott of Friendswood, TX and Patsy Hughey Brock and husband, Bobby Brock of Hattiesburg, MS; and numerous nieces and nephews.
