Trees topple on top of houses during storm; First responders arrive to rescue those trapped

NATCHEZ — Strong storms this afternoon have caused at least two trees to fall on top of houses in the area thus far.

As of 6 p.m. Saturday trees had been reported on top of houses on Myrtle Drive and Westwood Road. Natchez Police Chief Cal Green confirmed first responders are on scene trying to cut branches to get into the house on Westwood Road to free any trapped victims. Injuries have not been confirmed.

Meanwhile, residents are advised to avoid driving as at least 10 fallen trees have reportedly blocked roadways in areas throughout the county.

Road blockages have been reported at Steamplant near E. Wilderness Road, U.S. 84, and John R. Junkin Drive, across U.S. 61 South in the Kingston area, 350 Foster Mound Road, just past Holstead on Palestine Road and Booker Road.
