Teen killed as tree falls on Westwood Road house in Natchez

NATCHEZ — A Natchez teen did not survive when a tree fell on top of a home on Westwood Road amid Saturday evening storms.

The victim has been identified as 18-year-old Tykeria Rogers, Natchez Police Chief Cal Green said. Two other people inside the house did make it out safely, she added.

Natchez police and firefighters arrived on the scene to clear away branches and rescue trapped individuals around 6 p.m. Unfortunately, Rogers did not make it out.

“It’s a tough pill to swallow,” Green said of the incident. “It’s so devastating.”
