March 26, 1970 – Dec. 4, 2024

FERRIDAY – On Dec. 4, 2024, Sharon shed her earthly pain and made a graceful exit, surrounded by the love of her family. She fought hard through this journey but she never stopped being Sharon.
As a child, Sharon moved all over the country for her father’s career. She, too, had a successful career that moved her all over the country, never staying in one state too long. Some of her many titles were CEO and president of multiple corporations. She had her Master’s Degree in International Business.

All people die, but not all people live. Sharon lived! Sharon was the life of the party. She was one of a kind and to know her was to love her. She traveled, chased her dreams to be successful, fell in love a time or two, and still put one foot in front of the other battling what she knew from the start was an incurable cancer. She did so with strength, dignity, integrity, and a witty sense of humor.
She is survived by her husband, Edward (Ed) Masse; sons John Wesley Griffey, Dustin Fairchild, and Christian Kellum; granddaughters Brylee and Kynlee Fairchild; mother Rebecca Reeves (Jim); siblings Cheryl Peterson, John Peterson, and Benajah Peterson; and many nieces, including the daughter she never had, Samantha Peterson.

To my family “Thank you for keeping my spirits up through all of this. You made the journey so much easier for me. I found so much comfort and love in our times together surrounded by conversation and laughter. I love you all.” -Sharon

To my sons, “May you always remember that obstacles in the path are not obstacles, they ARE the path.”

Of all her titles Cece is the one she cherished above all. “Brylee and Kynlee I love you and will always watch over you. You now have the coolest guardian angel. I’ll love y’all always.” -Cece

Sharon was preceded in death by her father, John Peterson of Natchez, whom she admired. A viewing for Sharon Peterson Masse, 54, will be held at Young’s funeral home in Ferriday on December 21, 2024, at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at the End of the Trail Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held in Gatlinburg, TN.
