NATCHEZ — The Natchez Fire Department responded about an hour ago to a small roof fire at the Natchez Mall, Natchez Fire Chief Robert Arrington said.

“Something electrical burned through some of the roofing material,” Arrington said, adding that the damage wasn’t too bad. The mall remained open while the fire department cleared away the burned material, he said.

“It was mostly smoldering and we were able to get up there and clear off any material that was burned and call the maintenance crew to fix any damage,” Arrington said. “Nothing had to close.”
