NATCHEZ — Adams County Christian School’s varsity boys’ soccer team was scheduled to host cross-town rival Cathedral High School in an MAIS Division II South match, but the varsity and junior varsity contests were rescheduled.

“The field was too wet,” ACCS head coach Kristofer Thompson said. Nearly an inch and a half of rain fell in Natchez between late Wednesday afternoon and early Thursday morning.

Because of that, ACCS is now scheduled to host Cathedral next Monday at 5:30 p.m. But rain is forecast for Sunday, with some of it heavy at times, which could force the match to rescheduled yet again.

Last Tuesday night, the Rebels’ varsity boys team picked up their first win of the season on the road as they defeated the Parklane Academy Pioneers 2-1 in their Division II South opener.

Aiden Roche’ scored the first goal of the match for ACCS in the sixth minute of the first half and Jamichael Owens scored a goal for the Rebels in the 15th minute of the first half. Rebels goalkeeper Bryce LaPrairie had a strong performance nine saves.

“He (LaPrairie) had nine unbelievable saves,” Thompson said. “We started with control. Parklane, they competed really well. But our ideas were a little better. Our chances were a little more realistic and they had to be. Parklane, they had chances, but they didn’t finish.

“We were able to put the ball in the back of the net one more time than they were. It was a very competitive game. Hat’s off to Parklane. They played a very competitive ball game.”

With the victory over Parklane Academy, ACCS improved to 1-4 overall and 1-0 in Division II South.
