FERRIDAY, La. — Lilly-Anne Bryan, an 11-year-old girl from Ferriday, could have died from cancer at the age of four until God intervened.
Now her family waits and prays for another miracle that she will heal and recover from pulmonary fibrosis — a lung disease caused by her cancer treatment — after doctors have done all they can.
A little more than six months ago, Lilly-Anne was placed in the inpatient ICU at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, where she has been ever since and looks to spend her holidays with her parents Lacy and Joey Bryan and older brother Tucker.
Her hospital room is decorated for a Grinch-themed Christmas.
Lilly-Anne had been put on the list for a double lung transplant in July but was taken off of the list in early November when her condition worsened. Her doctors do not believe she could survive surgery and have said she has a zero-percent chance of survival.
However, her mother Lacy Bryan said they are not giving up hope.
“There’s a little more they can do unless God intervenes. They’ve told us that before. Until God shows me otherwise, I’m not giving up,” she said. “Praying for a miracle is the most important thing anyone can do for us. She is unable to have the transplant. It’s completely off the table. We’re just waiting for a miracle.”
Lilly-Anne has had a lot of stomach pain and remains on high oxygen requirements.
Lacy Bryan said the family is not making any major plans for the holidays — just “taking it day by day.” She also said the family has been widely supported by monetary donations and gifts from the community.
Several benefits hosted for Lilly-Anne throughout the region have supported her family during their hospital stay. Besides prayer, Lacy Bryan said positive words to encourage Lilly-Anne are also helpful.
“I’ve heard several people say they were worried about calling because they didn’t want to bother us. Nobody is bothering us,” Lacy Bryan said. “Don’t hesitate to reach out. If I don’t answer right away I will as soon as I can.”
Christmas cards or get-well cards are welcome, as long as they contain positive messages, she said.
“I will put my hope in God, not the doctors. We keep telling them she will get up and walk out of here and blow their mind. We need major things to happen in her body, but we are believing God will show up and show out,” Lacy Bryan shared in a social media post.
“I choose to believe what Bro. Tolbird claimed over her body. She will be healed, she will be normal and every organ will be normal. She will travel and tell her testimony of what God has done for us. Please keep us in your prayers. Pray for her miracle.”
