NATCHEZ — Adams County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Russell Handjis, 44, of Natchez on charges of burglary of a dwelling after he allegedly forced his way into a Natchez residence on Saturday at about 7:30 a.m.
E-911 received a phone call from someone in the residence who advised Handjis had forced himself into the house and began attacking people who were inside.
When deputies arrived, they found Handjis being pinned to the floor by someone inside the house. Handjis was bleeding from the head, according to reports. He was immediately taken into custody by ACSO deputies.
“The fight inside the house took place in the kitchen and a bedroom until parties were able to restrain Handjis until deputies arrived,” said Adams County Sheriff Travis Patten.
“This is not the first incident with this particular victim. He was already out on a $100,000 bond for an aggravated domestic incident that took place July 24,” he said.
Further, Handjis violated a no-contact-with-the-victim order issued by Judge Danny Barber regarding the July incident. Handjis bonded out from that incident on Sept. 2.
Handjis now faces a burglary charge of an occupied dwelling and was given a $150,000 bond.
“This is very concerning to law enforcement that he has repeatedly tried to harm this victim. I am going to ask the judge to revoke his bond. He is a danger to his victim. He is a danger to society, and he is a danger to himself,” Patten said.
