NATCHEZ — Sunday for Je’mario Clay, 23, could have gone much worse than it was despite being shot three times.
Clay was shot in the head during an altercation on Daisy Street near George F. West early afternoon Sunday and is alive to tell about it.
Natchez Police Chief Caroline Green said her department does have a suspect’s name and the investigation into the shooting continues.
“Clay was shot in the hand and a bullet grazed his arm and he was shot in the head. He is alive only because of the grace of God,” she said. “They are transferring him to Jackson from Merit Health Natchez for observation.”
She said the shooting was not random.
“I think the two people had some kind of verbal altercation before the shooting,” Green said.
