NATCHEZ — Natchez Police Chief Caroline Green said one woman was injured at approximately 12:30 a.m. on Sunday as she and a man sat in a car that was parked near St. Catherine Street in the vicinity of Holy Family Catholic Church.
Green said two people walked up to the vehicle and shot into it, striking the woman in the leg and buttocks. The man in the car was not injured.
Green said the woman was taken to a hospital in Jackson for treatment.
Several calls were made to E-911 reporting the shooting, at least one from as far away as the 600 block of State Street.
“We continue to investigate this case and have no motive yet. We will be traveling to Jackson to talk with the victim,” Green said.
