RIDGECREST – Funeral services for Virgie Lee Taylor, 90, of Ferriday, LA will be held at Ridgecrest Baptist Church on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2024, at 1 p.m. with Bro. Robbie Roberts officiating. Interment will follow at Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at Ridgecrest Baptist Church from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Virgie Lee Taylor was born on Friday, April 13, 1934, in Lexington, MS, and passed away on Friday, Nov. 1, 2024, at home with her family surrounding her. She was a resident of Ferriday, and a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church for 61 years, Virgie, lovingly known as “Nana” to many, was a devout Christian, she dedicated over 60 years to teaching women’s Sunday school, sharing her faith, and guiding countless women in their spiritual journeys. Her role in the card ministry touched many lives, and her work with the Love Circle demonstrated her compassionate heart. Virgie was also known for her incredible cooking; her kitchen was often filled with the comforting aromas of her lovingly prepared meals. Her warmth and generosity were a gift to her family, friends, and community. Nana will be deeply missed but leaves behind a legacy of faith, kindness, and love that will continue to inspire.

She was preceded in death by parents, Angelo and Merty Hawkins; husband, Ellis Taylor; son, Randy Taylor and his wife, Letha; grandson, Shane Seyfarth; great-grandson, Storm Cangemi; daughter-in-law, Dianne Taylor; brother, Lawrence Hawkins, Marshall Hawkins, and Pryde Hawkins; sisters, Lois Lucious and Robbie Woodyear.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Connie Seyfarth, and William of Monterey, LA, David Taylor of Ferriday; daughter, Tammy Taylor of Ferriday; grandchildren, Melissa Cangemi and Paul, Heath Seyfarth and Amanda, Dana McGivaren and Chris, Janee Guice and Wes, Stephanie Henslee and Brent, Jason Taylor and Danielle, Abby Taylor, and Melanie; numerous great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren; extended family, Rayford and Gloria Buckles, Nellie Harrell, Margaret Lee, Jerry Marsh and Cheryl Havard.

Those honoring Virgie as pallbearers will be Rayford Buckles, Keith Andrews, Ronnie Lewis, Ben Blackmon Jr., Jason Taylor, Heath Seyfarth.

Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
