VIDALIA, La. — This weekend is a busy one in Vidalia with the 10th annual Cruising for a Cure open car show and the first Miss Lou Trade Days Holiday Market Both taking over the Vidalia Riverfront and Convention Center.
Friday, Nov. 1, marks the beginning of the inaugural Miss Lou Trade Days market, which continues on Saturday, Nov. 2, during the Cruising for a Cure Car Show.
The market is open both inside and outside the Vidalia Convention Center from 1 to 8 p.m. on Friday and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday. The car show is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, just outside the Convention Center on the Vidalia Riverfront.
A $30 entry fee to register a vehicle of any kind into in the car show supports Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society. Participants may bring a toy or bicycle to donate to the First Baptist Church Christmas toy drive and take $5 off of their entry fee, said car show host, Dusty Oaks.
At least 65 local and regional vendors will be featured at the Miss Lou Trade Days market, said organizers Jenny Hinkle of Studio Creative and Dannielle Nelson of Bless This Mess in Vidalia. “That’s our final count and we keep adding vendors,” Hinkle said.
There will also be a petting zoo, a performance from Natchez Ballet Academy students around 2 p.m. Saturday, and a holiday photo opportunity with Santa Claus inside the Convention Center.
Amber Nugent will also be at the Miss-Lou Trade Days Holiday Market to represent Hannah’s Heart Foundation, an organization honoring the late Hannah-Beth Nugent by spreading love and kindness in the Miss-Lou.
“It’s going to be a full event, with vendors from Baton Rouge, Brookhaven and Jackson area within a few hours and some doing their first vendors show from Vidalia,” Hinkle said. “There are things to do for the little ones up to older adults who just want to come in, shop and have a good time. Santa will be here off and on throughout the day. We invite everyone to come, have a good time and support local businesses, too.”
Vendors include a variety of artisans and woodworkers; savory food and sweets vendors such as Big D’s Barbecue, Wishes Sweets & Eats and Rolling N The Dough; sellers of local honey and homemade goods; family clothing and gift items from local stores such as Rrus & Co. and Kudzu Cotton; and much, much more.
“It’s everyone you can think of under one roof,” Nelson said.
