FERRIDAY, La. — After giving up 82 points in a triple-overtime win over General Trass High School last week, Delta Charter School head coach Blake Wheeler said he had to make some changes on defense.

And whatever changes Wheeler made on that side of the ball definitely worked as the Delta Charter Storm shut out the Block High School Bears 38-0 on Senior Night at Delta Charter last Friday night to stay undefeated in LHSAA District 2-1A.

“It was a good victory. After giving up 82 points last week, we challenged our defense and they met the challenge and then some,” Wheeler said. “Getting that goose egg is something to be proud of. If we put it all together, we look forward to it.”

The Storm led Block (1-8, 0-4) 22-0 nearly midway through the third quarter before putting up two more touchdowns and a pair of two-point conversions to put the game away.

“Offense was a straight up Delta Charter offense. Ground and pound. Tyrin Singleton and Will Wiley, they run our offense.” Wheeler said.

Now Delta Charter (7-1, 4-0) can turn its attention to the biggest game of the regular season in District 2-1A — a trip to Monroe, La. to take on St. Frederick High School at 7 p.m. Thursday with the district championship on the line.

“We’re looking forward to it. We welcome the challenge. We’re playing our best ball and they’re playing their best ball,” Wheeler said.
