NATCHEZ – We are sad to announce the passing of Leonard (Lee) Bernard Cooley of Natchez. Lee passed away at age 83 on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2024. Visitation will be held at Laird Funeral Home on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2024, from 5 until 7 p.m. and Monday, Nov. 4, 2024, from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral services at 11 a.m. Graveside services will be held at 12:30 p.m. at the Natchez National Cemetery with Veteran Honors under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Lee is the son of Henry and Florice Cooley of Vidalia. Lee was born in Natchez. Lee was a United States Navy Veteran. He was a roofer the majority of his working career and he retired from the maintenance dept at the Isle of Capri. His favorite pastime was fishing, playing cards, and dominos. His friends called him “Lucky Lee”.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Henry and Florice Cooley; his daughter, Teresa Anne Floyd, and grandson, Donald Lee Ballard,
Lee is survived by his daughters, Janet Ballard of Natchez and Elizabeth Bramlett (husband, Barry) of Monroe, GA; five grandchildren, Nicole Taylor (husband, Ryan), Elizabeth Holley (husband, Travis), Shane Kokko (fiancé, Sierra), Ben Kokko (wife, Katrina) and Jasmine Bass (husband, Hunter); seven great-grandchildren, Eevee Ryle, Harrison Taylor, Troy Holley, Evelyn Holley, Charlotte Taylor, Logan Kokko, and Emory Anne Holley; and a close friend, Melanie James.
