City of Natchez recommends neighbors observe Halloween traditions on Saturday due to weather

NATCHEZ — As the City of Natchez’s Parks and Recreation Department and Downtown Natchez Alliance have postponed their Halloween celebrations to Saturday due to inclement weather, city officials recommend other neighborhood trick-or-treat organizers to do the same.

“Due to possible inclement weather during Halloween Thursday this year, the City of Natchez is encouraging that all residential trick-or-treating be done between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 2nd,” officials shared on the city’s social media page. “Happy Halloween to you and yours from Historic Natchez, Mississippi.”

The annual Trick-or-Treat for Little Feet, organized by Downtown Natchez Alliance where downtown businesses welcome trick-or-treaters to their stores, will be held from 4:30 to 6 p.m. on Saturday. Natchez Parks and Recreation’s Trunk ‘r Treat with The Grinch is also scheduled for Saturday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on the Natchez Bluff.

The National Weather Service predicts Thursday, which is Halloween, to have thunderstorms throughout the day into the evening with a  90 percent chance of precipitation and new rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch.

Friday’s forecast also includes a 5o percent chance of showers and thunderstorms during the day, which decreases to 20 percent at night. On Saturday, however, mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies are expected without rain.
