Dorothy was born on Wednesday, March 3, 1926, in Mississippi and passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2024, at her residence surrounded by loved ones. Dorothy was a beloved woman whose passion for the outdoors and deep commitment to her family made her cherished by all who knew her. She was a remarkable woman whose love for the outdoors fueled her life and sustained her family. From the woods and lakes to her own plantation, she delighted in hunting, fishing, and camping, proudly taking down a fine buck at age 91. Her commitment to her land and livelihood extended to produce farming, where she worked tirelessly to grow food for her family. Alongside this, she managed a bustling Holiday Inn, balancing her industrious spirit with a deep love for family, friends, and home-cooked meals. Indoors, Dorothy found joy in completing puzzles, filling her time with challenges she enjoyed as much as any adventure outside. As a devoted member of Lake St. John Baptist Church, Dorothy’s warm heart and passion for life left a legacy of resilience, family love, and an enduring connection to nature.
She is reunited with her husband, John Henry Williams; parents, Newton P. White and Flossie McAllister White; daughter, Shirley Williamson; granddaughter, Rebecca Maxie; and brother, John Barney “Red” White.
