NATCHEZ — Adams County Sheriff Travis Patten is warning area residents about an ongoing phone scam that claims to be from his department.
“There is a scam going around using the Adams County Sheriff’s Office phone number calling people stating they missed jury duty and have a federal warrant out for their arrest. They are asking for $45,000 and telling people they can pay it at Walgreens,” Patten said.
“This is not us. It is a scam and people don’t need to send any money anywhere,” he said.
Patten said all scams should be reported to local law enforcement and the FBI.
