NATCHEZ – Funeral services for Edith Turner Jackson, 89, of Natchez, who departed this earthly life on Sunday, Oct. 20, 2024, in Ferriday, will be held on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2024, at noon at the New Zion #1 Baptist Church with Pastor Ernest Ford Jr., officiating.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Oct. 25, 2024, from 3:30 until 4:30 p.m. at the funeral home and on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2024, from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
Burial will follow on Monday, Oct. 28, 2024, at 10 a.m. at the Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.
Edith was born Sept. 28, 1935, the daughter of Plaris King Turner and Willie Turner. She was a college graduate. She was a member of the New Zion #1 Baptist Church where she served on the Mother Board. Edith was a member of the Book Club at the Natchez Senior Citizen Multipurpose Center. In her spare time, she enjoyed attending church, watching football, and listening to gospel music.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Jackson; son, Anthony Jackson; parents; sisters, Elizabeth Doss, Edna McCoy, and Mary Cameron; and brothers, Robert King, Jr., and Earl Lee Turner.
Edith leaves to cherish her memories: brothers, Willie Turner (Patricia), James Knight (Melinda), and Melvin Knight; sister-in-law, Julie King; nephews, Robert Allen Kelly, Luther Knight (Alfredia), and Mark Turner; granddaughter, LaKira Johnson; special great-niece, Edith Burns; and a host of other relatives and friends
