Natchez artist, Conner Burns joins Lesley Silver and a variety of artists at her open house at The Attic Gallery on Dec. 10.
This annual event showcases the variety of artwork at the Attic Gallery and will take place from 1 to 5 p.m.
There will be an opportunity to meet several local artists and enjoy their art. This event will take place in the gallery as well as in the living space on the third floor.
Gumbo and other various foods will be on hand for you to enjoy. The public is invited to attend this fun event.
In addition to his time at the Attic Gallery, Conner Burns invites the community to his private studio once a year to celebrate at his Annual Open House and Studio Sale.
Traditionally held the Saturday after Thanksgiving, Nov. 25 from 1 until 7 p.m. at his studio at 209 Franklin St.
Burns will open his studio to the public and give tours. There will be an assortment of refreshments and artwork will be displayed and available for purchase.
There is always new artwork, but it is also a great opportunity to see the studio in which it is made. The studio continues to develop – come see what has changed.
Burns has hosted the annual art event since 1999; making this his 24th annual open house.
Burns works with clay using natural materials and shapes that are subtle in both color and texture.
Organic fluidity is his intention – such that each piece looks as if it ‘grew that way’ rather than being made.
Burns makes vessels (cups, bowls, teapots, vases, etc) as well as sculptural items.
In addition to making his artwork and operating his gallery, Burns teaches workshops across the nation to both professional and amateur artists.
His work has been featured in books about teapots, bowls, glazes, cups and pitchers and has received awards from galleries, art festivals, art associations and national clay organizations.
Burns’ work has been exhibited widely and is in collections across Europe, Asia and the United States.
Attic Gallery is located at 1101 Washington Street in downtown Vicksburg. (601) 638-9221.
