NATCHEZ — On Monday evening in the 800 block of N. Martin Luther King Jr. Road, police responded to an alleged hit and run involving one or more people.

There were two men identified as Travon Lyles and Anthony Jackson in an argument with each other on a live stream prior to this incident when both men alleged they were hit by another vehicle, Natchez Police Chief Cal Green said.

“One said the other left the scene and came back and hit him and the other said that an unknown driver hit them both,” Green said, adding it is unclear at this time what happened and who was involved.

One person was transported by ambulance to the hospital and the other transported himself, Green said, adding neither had life-threatening injuries.

Green said if someone is found responsible for the incident, they could be charged with leaving the scene of an accident at the very least.

“We’d have to look at the circumstances to see what other charges would be forthcoming,” she said, adding that there is an active, ongoing investigation. “This is a serious matter. You can’t just run over someone in the street and think it’s OK,” she said.
