CANNONSBURG – Funeral services for Edna Mae Griffin Blanton, 61, of Natchez, who died on Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2024, in Natchez, will be held on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Cannonsburg with Bishop J.L. Hammitte officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Oct. 18, 2024, from 5 until 6 p.m. at the funeral home and will continue on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2024, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
Edna was born March 19, 1963, in Natchez, the daughter of Sarah J. Griffin and Monroe Griffin. She was a graduate of Jefferson County High School and Copiah–Lincoln Community College. She retired from the restaurant and retail industry. Edna was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church. She was a die-hard fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide and Dallas Cowboys football teams. In her spare time, she enjoyed writing.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Michael Blanton; parents; sister, Ora Kaho; and brothers, Roosevelt White, James Martin, Adell Griffin, and Tony Griffin.
Edna leaves to cherish her loving memory: one son, LaMarcus Griffin; brothers, Monroe Griffin, Jr., Theodore Griffin, and Johnnie Griffin; sisters, Barbara Hayes, Beatrice Collins, and Angela Thompson; grandchildren, Jalen Griffin, Jordan Griffin, and Anaise Griffin; uncles, Moses Dyer and Elijah Dyer; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
