NATCHEZ — Two teams who have not had the season they were expecting will face each other Friday night when Cathedral High School plays host to Centreville Academy at D’Evereux Stadium for the Green Wave’s Senior Night game.

Kickoff between Centreville Academy (3-5) and Cathedral High School (3-6) will be at 7 p.m. Both teams are coming off tough, nail-biting losses last Friday night. The Tigers lost at home on their Senior Night to Bowling Green School 29-21 in overtime in which the MAIS District 3-4A championship was at stake. The MAIS Class 5A Green Wave lost a tough battle on the road to Class 6A St. Joseph Catholic School of Madison 31-28 when the Bruins scored a touchdown with 41 seconds left.

When Cathedral and Centreville Academy faced each other last year, the Tigers escaped with a 43-40 win at home over the Green Wave.

With Cathedral on the outside looking in as far as the playoff scenario is concerned at 14th in the power points rating in Class 5A, a win over a Centreville Academy team which is ninth in power points in Class 4A would help the Green Wave’s chances.
