NATCHEZ – Glenda Faye Howard Greer, 80, of Vidalia, passed away on Oct. 3, 2024, of natural causes.
Glenda was born on April 1, 1944, to Seth Franklin Howard and Icie Leigh Howard in Crowville, LA. She graduated from Vidalia High School and went on to study education at Louisiana Tech University where she obtained her Bachelor’s Degree.
One of Glenda’s biggest passions was teaching, with her first teaching job at A.E. Phillips Laboratory in Ruston, LA. After that, she spent the rest of her teaching career in the Miss-Lou area with time spent at Wilkinson County Christian School, Ferriday Upper Elementary, Ferriday High School, and Vidalia Junior High School – spanning some 40 years, where she made countless life-long friends. Teaching was her biggest passion, and her impact on countless students in Concordia Parish and the Miss-Lou area will be felt forever.
Glenda met her husband, Maurice Greer at Vidalia High School, where they started their relationship. They were married for 50 years and had three children, Stephanie Brumfield, Edward Greer, and Seth Greer.
After retirement, Glenda spent most of her time gardening and spending time with friends and family. Glenda was predeceased by her husband, Maurice Greer.
She is survived by her children, Stephanie, Edward, and Seth; six grandchildren, Sarah Brumfield-Derr, Jacob Brumfield, Henry Greer, Hannah Greer, Seth Greer, Jr., and Abigail Greer; as well as three great-grandchildren, Reese Brumfield-Derr, Reagan Brumfield-Derr, and Hood Brumfield.
A private graveside service will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery on Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2024.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Arbor Day Foundation or the Living Classrooms Foundation.
