NATCHEZ – Graveside Service for Edith Jackson, 89, of Natchez, who died on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2024, at St. Dominic’s Hospital in Jackson will be at noon on Friday, Oct. 4, 2024, at Natchez City Cemetery with Rev. Bart Walker and Rev. Tommy Quinn officiating.
Burial will follow at Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until noon on Friday at Laird Funeral Home until the time of the graveside service.
Mrs. Jackson was born on Dec. 7, 1934, in Natchez, the daughter of Daniel Carl Delancy and Elma B. McCallister Delancy.
Mrs. Jackson received her Master’s Degree in Education and taught kindergarten for many years in the Natchez Public Schools. She was a former member of Cranfield Baptist Church and is currently a member of Parkway Baptist Church. She loved all of her family and friends, and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Hansel Jackson; son, Danny Jackson, and her parents.
Survivors include her son, Kenny Jackson, and wife, Tamy of Natchez; daughter-in-law, Jayne Jackson of Natchez; three grandsons, Justin Jackson and wife, Melissa of Clinton, MS, Bryan Jackson of Natchez, Josh Jackson and wife, Kelcey of Springfield, VA; one granddaughter, Hannah Weatherford and husband, Jake of Richton, MS; and seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Justin Jackson, Bryan Jackson, Josh Jackson, Steve Joy, Rusty Jackson, Barney McCallister, and Doug McCallister.
The family would like to extend special thanks to all her recent caregivers from Home Sweet Home HomeCare Services, and Michelle Barrows a previous caregiver.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Parkway Baptist Church, or an organization of your choice.
