Category 1 Hurricane Kirk: Tuesday, Oct 1 update from the NHC on latest developments

As per the National Hurricane Center’s 10 pm Tuesday update, Kirk found new strength and has evolved from a tropical storm into a Category 1 hurricane with sustained winds of 75 miles per hour. Category 1 Hurricane Kirk is 1115 miles west of the Cabo Verde Islands, with maximum sustained wind of 75 mph. It’s moving 13 mph to the northwest.

“Additional strengthening is forecast during the next few days and Kirk is expected to become a major hurricane by Thursday.” according to forecasters.

Kirk has reached new heights of intensity and has upgraded from a tropical storm into a Category 1 hurricane, with winds blowing at 75 miles per hour.
