Adams County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a shooting in the Myrtle Drive area before 1:25 p.m.

The shooting came about after two individuals who both live on Myrtle Drive were involved in a verbal dispute earlier today.

“The victim confronted the suspect about money owed to him,” Sheriff Travis Patten said. “The two had words earlier today and then went on about their business. The suspect returned back to the residence with two other people, got into an altercation with the victim and fired multiple shots at the victim before fleeing the scene.”

Patten said the victim received minor injuries from dodging bullets but was not struck by any bullets.

“It’s still an active scene. We’re still processing and collecting evidence,” he said. “We do know who (the suspects) are and encourage them to come to turn themselves in at the Sheriff’s Office prior to us leaving this scene and locating them.”

Patten encouraged anyone in the Myrtle Drive area with camera footage or more information about this incident to contact either the sheriff’s office at 601-442-8333 or Southwest Mississippi Crime Stoppers at 888-442-5001.
