One by one, people came to the Natchez Bluff Friday to light a luminary bag in honor of a loved one who has suffered from dementia.
More than 30 of these bags illuminated the steps to the Natchez Bluff bandstand as Cha Cha Boo performed for attendees.
Each $5 bag purchased supports the Alzheimer’s Association, the world’s largest nonprofit funder of Alzheimer’s and other dementia research.
Saturday, Sept. 21, a community walk along the Natchez Bluff continues to support this organization and its efforts to provide free support services and find a cure. Registration starts at 8:15 a.m. at the bandstand and the walk starts at 9 a.m.
The event is free and open to the public. However, donations are encouraged.
Alzheimer’s and dementia resources will also be available at no cost. Those who come can receive information themselves or request information to be brought to their church, school, job or whatever organization they represent.
