A head-on collision left one woman dead and another seriously injured Wednesday in Claiborne County.

According to information from the Mississippi Highway Patrol, the wreck took pace around 11 a.m. on MS-547 near Mount Pleasant Road in Claiborne County.

A 2013 Infiniti Q70 sedan driven by 44-year-old Shenetra W. Johnson of Pattison, was traveling northbound on MS-547. A 2003 Nissan Frontier driven by 39-year-old Yefri W. Castillo-Sierra of Metairie, Louisiana, was traveling southbound on MS-547. Both vehicles collided head-on.

Johnson Johnson received fatal injuries from the crash and was pronounced deceased on the scene. Castillo-Sierra was airlifted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson with serious injuries.

This crash remains under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
