VIDALIA, La. — Sheriff David Hedrick said that a former hospital security guard employed by Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office has been terminated since his arrest on Thursday following a Louisiana State Police investigation into alleged illicit behavior with a juvenile.

Javontrics Murphy, 27, of Natchez, was employed by CPSO since March 2024. Murphy has been charged with three counts of malfeasance in office, three counts of first-degree rape, obstruction of justice, and simple battery.

On Aug. 30, 2024, the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office received a criminal complaint alleging misconduct by Murphy, Hedrick said.

As protocol requires, Hedrick said Murphy was placed on administrative leave.

Louisiana State Police Special Victim’s Unit (LSP SVU) was contacted CPSO to conduct an investigation concerning illicit acts involving a 15-year-old juvenile and a CPSO Deputy.  The allegations were inappropriate contact between the CPSO Deputy and a juvenile prisoner while in transit to a juvenile facility.

LSP SVU conducted interviews and as a result of the investigation and information obtained, arrest warrants were acquired for Murphy.

He was arrested and booked into the CPSO Detention Center on Sept. 5.  “The investigation remains active and ongoing.  No further information is available at this time,” LSP stated in a press release.

Upon completion of the investigation, Murphy was also terminated from his position with CPSO, Hedrick said.

“We uphold our core values to the highest degree and any misconduct that meets the threshold for criminal prosecution will be dealt with as such. I am saddened by the details of this case and stand by my commitment to protect the children in Concordia Parish,” he said.

Anyone who is arrested is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
