FERRIDAY, La. — Funeral services for Merry Jill Tennessee, 71, of Vidalia, will be held Saturday, Sept. 7, 2024 at 1 p.m. from the Wayside Prophetic Pentecostal Church, 920 Mickey Gilley Avenue in Ferriday. Burial will follow at the Mt. Zion Church Cemetery in Wildsville under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home of Ferriday. Visitation will be held Friday evening at the funeral home. Pastor James Fenton will officiate.

Mrs. Tennessee, daughter of Josephine Lewis, was born in Frogmore and died at the St. Dominic Jackson Memorial Hospital in Jackson. She was a retired custodian for Concordia Parish School System.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her four children, Jimmy Lewis and Crystal Lewis both of Ferriday; Derrick Lewis of Natchez; Shawanda Williams and her husband, Taurus of Vidalia; three siblings, Edward Lewis and Jessie Lewi both of Ferriday; Murray Lewis of Houston; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild; two aunts, Judy Lewis and Annabelle McCray and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Mrs. Tennessee is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Benard Tennessee and her sister Sarah Madison.
