The funeral service for Gregory Eldridge Pickering will be 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 6, at Damascus Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 5, at Riverwood Family and will resume Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at Damascus.

Mr. Pickering, 64, of Wilmington, NC, died Aug. 28, 2024, at UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill, NC. He was born in Brookhaven, MS, on Dec. 4, 1959, to J.E. Pickering and JoyAnn Grice Pickering.

Mr. Pickering worked as a Mill Wright with the International Paper Company. He was a member of Port City Community Church in Wilmington. In his free time, Greg enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was entertained by watching the Western Channel on television as well as watching Ole Miss Football. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who loved him.

He is preceded in death by his father; and his grandparents, RJ and Mellie Grice and Judd and Rhoda Pickering.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 28 years, Laura Pickering; his mother; children, Hayley Pickering and Kaycee Pickering; brothers, Barry Pickering (Robbie) and Kerry Pickering (Julie); one grandchild, Bella Pickering; his dog, Nola Jeaux Pickering; and a host of other family and friends.
