WOODVILLE — Ben’s Ford Christian School senior quarterback Ein Knight and junior running back Dashell Houston combined for seven rushing touchdowns as the Eagles held on for a 58-40 win over the Wilkinson County Christian Academy Rams last Friday night.

WCCA was seeking to avenge last year’s 62-20 loss at Ben’s Ford. And while the Rams were stayed in the game into the second half, the Eagles’ ground game was too much to overcome.

Rams senior quarterback Jacob Sessions had a good game running the ball with 13 carries for 88 yards with touchdown runs of seven yards in the first quarter for an early 8-0 lead and 21 yards in the fourth quarter.

But he struggled in the passing game against Ben’s Ford’s defense, completing just three of 13 passes for 38 yards. One of those completions went to Cole Partridge on a 21-yard TD pass with just 1:21 remaining in the ball game that made it a 42-30 game in the Eagles’ favor.

Knight had touchdown runs of 13 yards in the first quarter, nine yards in the second quarter, 12 yards in the third quarter, and two yards in the fourth quarter. Houston had touchdown runs of 20 yards late in the first half as well as 14 yards and 56 yards in the final 3:01 of the game.

As a team, Ben’s Ford (2-0) finished with 401 total rushing yards and 419 yards of total offense.

Napoleon Howard was one bright spot for WCCA offensively as he had nine carries for 130 yards and two touchdowns. Charles Grezaffi had seven carries for 56 yards and one touchdown and shared the lead in tackles with 15 to go along with two sacks.

Easton Buteaux had two catches for 17 yards. Defensively, Dax Doyle also had 15 tackles while Gauge Metz had seven tackles and Howard had a fumble recovery.

What was remarkable about this game is that neither team punted ball even once.

WCCA (2-1) will look to get back on the winning track when the Rams travel to Florence to take on Discovery Christian School next Friday at 7 p.m.
