Thursday, Aug 29 update: Latest on Tropical Depression Gilma from the NHC

As per the National Hurricane Center’s 10 am Thursday update, Gilma has lost momentum and has regressed from a tropical storm to a tropical depression, with winds of 35 miles per hour.

Tropical Depression Gilma is 285 miles east of Hilo Hawaii and 480 miles east-southeast of Honolulu Hawaii, with maximum sustained wind of 35 mph. It’s moving 14 mph to the west.

“Gilma is expected to dissipate near Kauai on Saturday.” meteorologists observed. “Continued gradual weakening is expected, and Gilma is expected to weaken to a remnant low by tonight.”
