Tropical Storm Gilma: National Hurricane Center’s Wednesday, Aug 28 status report

According to the National Hurricane Center’s 10 am Wednesday advisory, Tropical Storm Gilma is 615 miles east of Hilo Hawaii and 810 miles east of Honolulu Hawaii, with maximum sustained wind of 45 mph. It’s moving 14 mph to the west.

“Continued weakening is expected, and Gilma is expected to weaken to a remnant low by Friday.” according to forecasters.

YESTERDAY (Tuesday):

Yesterday, Gilma changed first into a Category 1 hurricane and then into a tropical storm with sustained winds of 45 miles per hour.

HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND:

RAINFALL: The remnants of Gilma may bring heavy rainfall to portions of the Hawaiian Islands as early as Friday, lasting through Saturday.
