NATCHEZ —The Mississippi Bureau of Investigations has not proceeded to charge a man who had been accused of firing gunshots out of a moving vehicle on U.S. 61 on Monday afternoon.

Corporal Craig James of the Mississippi Highway Patrol Public Affairs Division said MHP is charging 58-year-old Terry Gooden from Natchez with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest for incidents that occurred during a traffic stop after the alleged shooting.

James said troopers received a call just after 3 p.m. on Monday stating that a subject in a 2002 red GMC pickup was shooting a firearm out of his window on U.S. 61 near Selma Estates Road.

The caller followed the vehicle at a distance while on the phone with MHP, James said, adding that Gooden had been stopped on U.S. 61 in Jefferson County where troopers made contact with him.

As of Tuesday, MBI had concluded its investigation and is not proceeding with any charges against Gooden, James said.
